Dear Lewisboro Families,
Happy New Year! It was very exciting to visit your children today in their classrooms and welcome everyone back at a school-wide assembly. It was due to the extensive planning and preparation as well as the collaborative effort of the entire LES staff that led to a successful opening day. Our students were introduced and oriented to their new teachers, classmates, and learning environment by participating in getting to know you activities, establishing routines, reviewing safety procedures, organizing their materials, and setting expectations and goals. All that in just one day!
Today your child is bringing home important information that requires your attention.
- LES Family Handbook
- Katonah-Lewisboro Elementary Schools Be Your Best!" Code of Conduct
- Innisbrook Gift-wrap Fundraiser
The Family Handbook is updated each year to reflect current practices that directly affect our daily lives at LES. Please take the time to review the handbook as a way of gaining an understanding of our policies and procedures for such things as Who's Who at LES, arrival/dismissal, lunch/recess, homework, field trips, safety, etc If you have any recommendations as to information that you would like to see included in our for next year, please feel free to get in touch with me to share your thoughts and ideas.
Please review the "Be Your Best! Code of Conduct with your child(ren). There is a commitment statement found at the beginning of the booklet that is to be signed and returned to school by Friday, September 5th. Each student will be presented with a small token of appreciation when their commitment statement is handed in to their classroom teacher and your child's class will receive a special visit from Ms. Bermiss when 100% participation is met
Our annual Innisbrook Fundraiser begins Monday, September 8th and ends Monday, September 22nd. This fund-raiser is run by our PTA. For every item sold, LES receives 50% of proceeds. Thank you in advance for any contribution that your family may choose to provide.
In the interest of sustainability, our District we will not be distributing hard copies of the K-5 Curriculum Guides or the monthly school lunch menus. These documents are posted on both the KLSD and LES websites. However, if you are unable to access the documents, please contact the main office and we will promptly send hard copies home with your child via back-pack mail.
I am looking forward to seeing many of you at our annual Welcome Back Picnic, sponsored by the PTA, on Friday, September 5. I am hopeful that you will also join me at the first scheduled PTA General Meeting on Wednesday, September 10th when I will be speaking about our safety procedures. And, of course, we will meet once again at the Curriculum Nights, scheduled for Wednesday, September 17th (grades 3-5) and Wednesday, September 24th (grades K-2). We will be well acquainted by the end of September!
Sincerely,
Cristy Harris
Principal
